Participants will know the following vocabulary:
drive, path, short-cut, Start Menu Task Bar, desktop,
application, document, maximize, minimize, file,
folder/directory, control panel.
Participants will be able to assemble and
disassemble their computer hardware.
Participants will be able to start up and shut down
their computer.
Participants will understand what a drive is and
what a path means.
Participants will be able to move files between
drives and within the same drive to different directories
using the file manager.
Participants will be able to move files between

using "drag and drop" with the mouse.
Participants will be able to open a document in its
associated application by:
- using the "documents" menu
in the start menu.
- using a "short-cut" to the document
on the desktop.
- navigating through a drive and

by:
- selecting it from the
"start" menu.
- selecting it from a folder on the

Participants will be able to open data files and

Participants will be able to switch between active
programs using the taskbar.
Participants will be able to minimize and maximize
applications on the desktop and to recognize an
application's state.
Participants will be able to print a document or
web page.
Participants will be able to use their modem to
access the WWW and FirstClass via their Internet provider
and the OCS Modem Bank.
Participants will be able to find programs or
documents on their computer using the "find" option in the
start menu.
Participants will be able to use on-line help to
search for help on a topic.
Participants will be able to add and remove
programs, documents, and folders from the start menu.
Participants will be able to create a shortcut to a
program or document and place it on their desktop.
Participants will be able to change computer
settings from the control panel.
Participants will be able to switch to start a DOS
shell and know the difference between a DOS shell and "DOS
Mode".
