Participants will be able to perform the following
actions with the OCS plug-in software:
- Zoom in on a location to see
more detail.
- Zoom out to see a larger area.
- Scroll the map using the
mouse.
- Scroll the map using the scroll
bars.
- Resize the browser window to see more
or less of the map.
- Use various display controls in the
legend.
Participants will be able use the legend associated
with a data plot for basic interpretation of the
following:
- a Mesonet station model
plot
- a Mesonet line contour plot
- a Mesonet wind vector plot
- a NIDS reflectivity image
- a NIDS rainfall accumulation
image
Participants will be able to recognize and
interpret additional information on the legend in the
plug-in software (date, time, product label, etc).
Participants will be able to understand the
relationship and convert between GMT (UTC), CST and
CDT.
Participants will be able to describe in broad
terms the web-based client/server architecture for
distributing Mesonet and radar data.
Participants will be able to recognize the
executable and resource files associated with OCS software
and know where they belong on the computer.
Participants will be able to distinguish when
Mesonet data and NIDS data are viewed through the plug-in
software and when the data are presented as static
images.
Participants will know how to contact the
appropriate OCS personnel for assistance in using the
software and to report bugs or other problems.
